Their Stories
 the accounts of
Canadian WWII Veterans

During the preparation of the Tulips 2005 tour in March and April 2005 all of us, Rene, Luluk and Quinten, telephoned and emailed Veterans from most of the communities that we were planning to visit. The phone conversations were recorded and transcribed. We asked them what they remembered, particularly about Holland.

Some of them didn’t really want to talk about the war and some didn't really remember the details.
These emotional accounts were printed in our concert programs which we handed out during 100 concerts in 76 communities. The readers were from all ages and some didn’t know about WWII.

These war stories carry a message of peace
and tell about the bond between the Dutch and the Canadians

Also included are some accounts collected by their son’s and daughter’s and grandchildren, by the organizers of the festivals involved, by universities and were collected from the internet. And there are also just a few off so many stories of lost children.

What a great moment it was when we arrived in the city and finally met with the veteran we talked to over the phone.
They have such great personalities.
