The
“magic” of Indonesia at the centre of Pyrgos
Music, dance, singing, even
shadow theatre from Indonesia were available to anyone who happened to be
in Pyrgos’ central square. The twenty members of the traveling group of
artists with the name “Stage Bus” started their tour on the 24th
August in the framework of the Cultural Olympiad Athens 2004. They have
been visiting several towns in the seven Peloponnesian prefectures,
presenting their culture through their performances.
Four of their members, staying
at the Pelops Hotel in Ancient Olympia, exclusively speaking to our
reporter, expressed their satisfaction with the attendance and they talked
about their wish to present our own shadow theatre, Karagiozis, in
Indonesia.
It is worth mentioning that
the whole effort is supported by the National Indonesian Committee for the
Cultural Olympiad that the Indonesian government brought together after an
invitation from the Greek government.
