A journey into a wide variety of events, from traditional &
classical to modern & experimental, divided into two board categories:
THE ARTS (visual arts, music,
cinema, etc)
CULTURE (native traditional
events, human values, education, etc)
Incorporating
many levels of talent from 'stellar' to professional to amateur,
with a particular emphasis on audience involvement & educational
opportunities:
CORE EVENTS (Star
attractions,
exellent caliber of talent, international class, wide appeal)
COMMUNITY OUTREACH EVENTS
(educational workshops, seminars, street performances, etc)
A vision
designed for all ages, all backgrounds, and for different economic
levels;
Envisaging a participation mix of 60% Indonesian / 40% international
Where
will JakArt@2001 be held?
In
major parts of Jakarta, utilizing the city as the backdrop, or stage.
In venues ranging from:
- Professional
venues like auditoriums, concert halls, stadiums, museums
(e.g TIM, Gedung Kesenian, TUK, Erasmus Huis, etc)
- Alternative
venues
(such as hotels, community centres, private homes, restaurants,
malls, and other frequently used venues)

Existing infrastructures used creatively, such as outdoor venues
(including parks, streets, churches, mosque courtyards, sport
fields)
- Moveable
or portable venues
(such as the stage bus)
When
will JakArt@2001 happen? I
want to be there!
In
June 2001, culminating on
June 22nd - the anniversary of the city of Jakarta. Events may also
accur prior to & after June (e.g seminars, master classes, &
long-running exhibitions).
Why
is JakArt@2001 happening?
To celebrate the beginning of the new millenium
To commemorate Jakarta's Anniversary
Excellent opportunity to improve Indonesia's currently low image
internationally
2001 is the beginning of the "era of globalisation"...
Are we ready?
As
the world moves to the post-industrial age, by staging a coordinated
large-scale event like this, JakArt@2001 can demonstrate that significant
benefits can be gained from development and promotion of the arts.

we can collectively and actively work together to change the status
