| 5. THREE INDONESIAN ART TROUPES TO JOIN
CULTURAL OLYMPICS IN GREECE IN AUGUST.
Art troupes from Indonesia's Bali, Yogyakarta and Jakarta have been
chosen to join the Cultural Olympics in Greece on Aug 13-29, Taufik Razen
of the national committee for the Cultural Olympics said.
The three are
Bali's "Bajra Sandhi", led by Ida Wayan Granoka; the art troupe from
Yogyakarta, led by Heri Dono; and the "Stage Bus", a multicultural art
troupe from Jakarta, said Taufik.
He said they will perform in the
Greek cities of Athens and Olympia.
The Balinese group will perform a
traditional gamelan piece and classic dances, while the Yogyakarta group,
under Heri Dono, will collaborate with Greek artists in putting up an art
piece based on his 2001 artwork, "Troya Horse".
The Jakarta group
meanwhile will present a musical collaboration by Indonesian and foreign
artists, Taufik said.
He said that the Greek Cultural Olympics is being
organized in line with the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens.
