CULTURE BUS If
a bus with a sun-roof carrying dancers from Bali, actors from Java, shadow
theatre players from Jakarta passes from Nafplion and Argos, don’t feel
puzzled… The Organisation for the Promotion of Greek Culture and the
Embassy of the Indonesian Republic in Greece present the “Stage Bus”
and bring the colours
and melodies of Indonesia to Greece! The traveling show ‘Stage
Bus’, which started yesterday in Nafplion (25/8), will continue tonight
in Lerna (at the Kiveri beach) and will be touring the seven Peloponnesian
prefectures until the 14th of September, performing songs,
music, dance, shadow theatre and video projections. The
group is made up of 20 Indonesian artists and the “Stage Bus” which
transports them; it is the Indonesian government’s offering to the programme
of the Cultural Olympiad, responding to the invitation of Greece.
Referring to this art event, the president of OPEP Mr Stamatis Mavros
mentioned yesterday that it is a production which aims at the
de-centralization of cultural events. This offering from Indonesia brings
us closer to a unique civilization in a greater area which up to now has
been a complete unknown to many of us, a series of events which aim at
decentralizing cultural activity, offering the opportunity to people
outside the capital to witness the work of the Cultural Olympiad and OPEP.
The ambassador of the Republic
of Indonesia in Greece, Mrs. Faishah Soeftendi, while thanking the Greek
government, the Ministry of Culture and OPEP for their co-operation,
mentioned that the active participation of Indonesia in the programme
of the Cultural Olympiad helps with the further development of
relationships on a cultural and social level between the two nations and
their people. By
