FROM INDONESIA

A bus – theatre travels the Peloponese

The traveling show ‘Stage Bus’, which started out yesterday (25/8), will be touring the seven Peloponnesian prefectures until the 14th of September, performing songs, music, dance, shadow theatre and video projections in the framework of the Cultural Olympiad. Their first stop was Nafplion yesterday. Today they will be performing in Argos and tomorrow they will be in Kiveri, at the municipality of Lerna with singing, music, dancing, shadow theatre and video projections.

More specifically, this moving theatre (which belongs to the JakArt cultural organization, supported by the Indonesian government) is attached to the specially transformed, multi-purpose bus (The Stage Bus) which has all the necessary equipment, such as a screen for shadow theatre, video projectors, a grand piano, a drum set, etc.

The initiative

The programme of the tour includes singing, dancing, music and Indonesia’s own traditional shadow theatre in every town-stop. The space and the programme of each event may be altered according to the needs (programme a-la-carte).

Referring to this artistic event, the president of OPEP Mr Stamatis Mavros mentioned yesterday that it is a production which aims at the decentralization of cultural events. This offering of Indonesia brings us closer to a unique civilization in a greater area which up to now has been a complete unknown to many of us”, he stressed.

The ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Greece, Mrs. Faishah Soeftendi, while thanking the the Greek government, the Ministry of Culture and OPEP for their co-operation, mentioned that the active participation of Indonesia in the programme of the Cultural Olympiad helps with the further development of relationships on a cultural and social level between the two nations and their people.
