How much does 200 grams of perfume weigh in the air?
Distant fragrance,
formless and floating perfume, which follows the movements of air,
scents that evoke, call and captivate, perfume that speaks softly
without words, endless perfume that does not require permissions, it
doesn’t impose itself and cannot be caught with hands, perfume in
movement as a movement.
How much does 2 kg of movement weigh in the air?
Parfum is the westerners’ fantasy of Asia a bit in the same way as the
castle of King George IV in Brighton in Great Britain.
After the trilogy devoted to romantic relationships (Prologue d’une
scène d’Amour, Scene d'Amour and
Perle),
which addressed to the physicality through the figures of duos, Juha
Marsalo dedicates this piece to the investigation of weight and of
continuous energy in the movement.

Carolyn Carlson,
outside its own solos, has often created solos for exceptional
interpreters as Talia Paz, Marie-Claude Pietragalla, Tero Saarinen,
Yutaka Takei or James Carlès. Today she creates
Obscure Download
for
Juha-Pekka Marsalo. The piece, constructed through sessions of
improvisation and composition between the two artists, relies on the
personality of the interpreter. Particularly his approach to the
relationships of love is discussed in Obscure Download. With
humour and vitality, Carolyn Carlson and Juha Marsalo draw an ironic
confession of an optimistic loner.
Juha Marsalo
Juha Marsalo is
Finnish. He studied at the CNDC in Angers. He worked as a dancer in
Carolyn Carlson and Wim Vandekeybus
companies from 1997 to 2002. In the same time, he founded in 1997
L’Experience Harmaat with Fabrice Lambert. They have created three

Danse in 1997 and 1999. In 2001 he founded the Juha Marsalo Company and

a duet with the Argentinean painter Hugo Laruffa in 2002 - Shocking,
a solo presented for the first time at June Events 04 in Paris.
In 2005, he choreographed Prologue d’une scène d’amour for his
company and Scène d’amour for the CCN Roubaix Nord-Pas de Calais.
