This performance was part of a
concert tour to promote 2 albums recorded in 1985: “Impressions of
China” Virgin Records, Hong Kong and “Helsdingen jazz” released by
Timeless Records. 28 concerts throughout Holland and Belgium after
which they would then travel on to Bombay for the JazzYatra
Festival.
Rodney Mecks, Born Detroit Michigan. Instruments: drums and bass.
Rodney came from a very musical family whose member include Elvin
Jones, the legendary drummer in the John Coltrane Quartet. Rodney
also toured for years in THA a popular Detroit Area band and was a
much called upon drummer for studio sessions. Rodney participated as
percussionist in EEBO, an L.A. based band that won the 1980 Playboy
Jazz festival award for best original band. Also appeared on van
Helsdingen LP “ After the Third Window”.
Brian Batie, born Highland Park, Michigan. Instruments: Electric
bass and synthesizer. Experience: 45 years of recording and
performing with various recording artists around the world. Among
those he has recorded with Al Green, Marvin Gaye, Eddie Harris,
Martha Reeves, The Platters. Recorded 5 records with the Helsdingen
orchestra and toured internationally with them in 1985. |
