Lunch at Craft-Tea Elevator Restaurant in Indian Head
The prettiest little town 0n the prairies. There are a few theories as
to how the town got its name, however the most popular one is that
in 1837 an epidemic of smallpox hit a part of the Assiniboine Indians
who were encamped in the neighbourhood and they, according to
their customs , climbed to the highest point of land to die.
This range of hills is now known as the Squirrel Hills but referred to
as the Indian Head Hills years ago. Their skeletons remained there
for many years and thus the natives called the hills the Skull Mountainettes
which were later called the Indian Head Hills and from that developed
the name of Indian Head
