Wiro Mahieu / Bassist

Education:
Studied at the 'Hogeschool voor de kunsten', Arnhem, Holland and graduated in 1990

Teaching Experience:
Currently teaching double bass and bass guitar at "de Lindenberg School of Music", Nijmegen, Holland.
Leads several workshops for jazz- and pop groups

Awards:
1988: solist award at the NOS-Meervaart-Jazz concours, Amsterdam, Holland.
1990: the 'polaroid Jazz Award' with the group 'Cyprus Constructie'.
1996: 'Wessel Ilcken price' with pianist Rob van den Broeck.

Professional engagements as a sideman:
Luluk Purwanto & the Helsdingen trio, Loek Dikkers 'Waterland Sextet', Rob van den Broeck international quartet, the Jeroen Pek band, the Thomas Rückert Trio, One Warp, Eric Vloeimans Trio.
Has also performed with: Gerd Dudek, Tony Levin, Charlie Mariano, Kenny Wheeler, Peter Weniger, Marcello Pellitteri, Marcel Serierse, Jarmo Hoogendijk, John Engels, Donald Dean, Chander Sardjoe, Marc van Roon, Dick de Graaf, Pierre Courbois, Leo van Oostrom, Thomas Chapin and others.
