Teater Bunga

The theatre was formed in 1997, by about 50 children. Some are school children, but some are not. For those are in the ages of 12 and up, their practice schedule is three times a week on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday. For the younger children, it is once a week which is on Sunday. Their practice area is around the cemetary where there are big trees so people don’t use that area for burial because it is hard to dig. In that 4x6 meter space, they practices and express themeselves. The area is small and crowded. Many people live in small spaces. There are many kinds of people around the place from cake seller to car dealer. Nearby there are high rise buildings. The children lost their playgrounds so they played in the cemetary that is safe from the bussyness of the street.

"Waiting for SUMO"
There was a kingdom called the SUMO kingdom. There, all the rich people became crazy because they are very rich. The poor people are witt in winning the hearts of the thieves. SUMO thieves are good in their profesion as thieves. The SUMO richare crazy not in their mind, but in their actions. While SUMO poor always do what they are told obediently. What would happen if all three SUMOS come together in an eight by eight tarp?

Melihat keinginan serta potensi yang begitu besar dari anak-anak yang bermukim di Gang Kober, Kelurahan Rawa Bunga, Jakarta Timur ini, tersentuh hati saya untuk membentuk sebuah komunitas. Sebab sangat disayangkan apabila bakat dan potensi yang begitu besar akan hilang percuma apabila tidak dituntun dan dibina dengan penuh perhatian dan kasih saying. Dengan itu berdirilah komunitas yang bernama Teater Bunga.Teater Bunga yang berdiri tahun 1997, beranggotakan lebih kurang 50 anak-anak. Terdiri dari anak-anak yang masih sekolah maupun yang putus sekolah.

Sinopsis

“Menunggu Sumo” adalah cerita yang lahir dari hasil observasi dari kenyataan hidup saat ini. Pada sebuah Kerajaan sumo semua orang kaya menjadi gila lantaran kebanyakan harta. Sedangkan yang miskin pada pintar-pintar mengambil hati para perampok. Sumo para perampok yang mahir dalam memainkan profesinya sebagai perampok. Sumo orang kaya bukan gila otaknya tapi gila-gilaan dengan perbuatannya. Sedangkan Sumo orang miskin segalanya patuh jalan menjalankan tugas-tugas yang diberikan kepadanya. Lalu bagaimana ketika ketiga para Sumo ini dipertemukan diatas terpal yang berukuran delapan kali delapan. Apa yang akan mereka perbuat ketika mereka menyampaikan dengan bahasa tubuh.
